Ford Normal Maintenance Intervals and Parameters
The most common maintenance interval is designated as Normal, which should take place between 12,000-16,000 kilometres. This is the route you should choose if you drive a normal commute, including highway driving, with only moderate towing loads. This type of interval also requires that you don’t idle for extended periods of time, and drive primarily on either flat or slightly hilly roads.
Ford Severe (Special) Maintenance Intervals and Parameters
Drivers who depend on their Ford models for a bit more in terms of off-road performance should consider Ford’s Severe (also called “Special”) service interval. This requires that you take your vehicle in for maintenance around 8,000-11,999 kilometres of use and is recommended if you drive in mountainous/off-road conditions, idle for extended periods of time, haul heavy loads with you, or drive in extreme weather conditions, either hot or cold.
Ford Extreme Maintenance Intervals and Parameters
To really keep tabs on your Ford vehicle at all instances, the recommended type of service interval is Extreme, between only 4,000 and 7,999 kilometres of driving. This parameter is designated by the type of conditions listed in the Severe maintenance plan, but you should consider Extreme if you tow or haul the maximum loads that your Ford vehicle allows, along with operating in either hot or cold climates exclusively.
