Stay warm this winter with cold-weather features in the Ford Escape

We all know what it’s like to go from a warm, cozy house to the frigid temperatures outside. The last thing you want to do is get in your cold vehicle and wait for it to warm up. In an effort to understand this struggle and get feedback from drivers, Ford recently held a customer clinic right here in Edmonton to learn what vehicle features and capabilities might help in extreme cold temperatures. In the end, Ford’s extreme climate team has developed an array of winter features for the 2017 Ford Escape.

2017 Ford Escape winter features

From the customer survey, Ford learned about specific cold-weather features that drivers desire as standard and optional equipment. The result is a suite of elements that are designed to keep passengers warm and help improve the winter driving experience.

Windshield wiper de-icer: Uses a local heating element by the wiper blades to remove light snow and ice from the wiper blades; works in less than 10 minutes at 27 degrees below zero Celsius

All-weather floor mats: With grooves and ridges designed to catch and hold snow, slush, mud, and other elements and protect vehicle carpeting

Heated side mirrors: Warm and melt snow and ice from the outside mirrors; help improve visibility

Heated seats: Keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and warm in extreme cold temperatures

Heated steering wheel: Keeps the driver’s hands warm when it’s very cold outside

In addition to the winter features mentioned above, drivers can also utilize the remote start feature via SYNC Connect using the FordPass mobile app. That way, your Escape can be warmed up and ready to go when you are.
