The Ford Focus has long been an icon in both the sedan and hatchback markets, and its RS trim dares to stake its claim to the top of the performance car heap. High innovation and higher amounts of fun are both yours for the taking with this industry frontrunner, so check out the 2018 Ford Focus RS engine specifications and top speed to see what kind of hair-raising gusto you can expect.

2018 Ford Focus RS engine and drivetrain features

It’s almost uncanny, really, how the 2018 Focus RS can inspire so much awe and excitement every time you press the gas. It’s able to do this because of an ultra-powerful 2.3-litre EcoBoost® Inline-4 engine under the hood, which can produce upwards of 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

That only scratches the surface of the Focus RS’s capability, however, as you’ll also be treated to some of the top performance features that the market has to offer, all standard! We’ve listed the highlights below:

  • Torque Vectoring Control
  • Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive
  • Unique RS Driver Selectable Drive Modes and Sport Suspension
  • Front Axle Quaife® Limited Slip Differential
  • 6-speed manual transmission

All this innovation allows the 2018 Focus RS to be quite the speedy model. In fact, it can race from 0-100 km in only around 4.6 seconds! This translates to an advertised top speed of 265 kilometers per hour, but a more realistic expectation is around 233 km/h. Even so, that’s plenty to get the blood pumping on those tempting straightaways.
