2018 Ford Super Duty F-350 XLT engine options and tow ratings

The phrase “Built Ford Tough” is one that has evoked feelings of strength and high performance through any situation, be that on the worksite or the open road. When you’re inside a Ford truck, there’s a certain level of status, achievement and brute force that you’re entitled to, nowhere more evident than in the case of the Super Duty line. Today we’ll be taking a peek at the 2018 Ford Super Duty F-350 XLT engine options and tow ratings so you can see all that this popular heavy-duty trim can accomplish!

2018 Ford Super Duty F-350 XLT engine specs

There are currently two engines on board the 2018 Super Duty XLT, both of which are paired with a TorqShift® 6-speed automatic transmission to give you a smooth, responsive and durable drive. If you’re in search of gasoline power, the Super Duty offers a 6.2-litre 2 Valve Gas SOHC EFI NA V8 engine, with Flex-Fuel capability; it’s capable of churning out up to 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque!

However, if you need the added confidence of diesel, the Super Duty also has you covered. Try its 6.7-litre 4-Valve Power Stroke® V8 on for size, which produces 450 horsepower and 935 (!) lb-ft of torque. You heard us; the latter is best in its class!

2018 Ford Super Duty F-350 XLT towing and payload capacities

The Super Duty XLT is also available in two distinct body configurations, either a Single Rear Wheel (SRW) or Dual Rear Wheel (DRW) drive. With either of these, you can expect a maximum towing capacity of 9,525 kilograms conventionally, and up to 15,422 kg with a gooseneck outfitted. In addition, you can haul a maximum payload of 3,461 kg in your truck’s bed! All this makes the Super Duty XLT one of the most versatile and durable pickups on the road.
