2025 Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving updates and enhancements

The latest version of hands-free driving technology

BlueCruise has received a significant upgrade with the introduction of BlueCruise 1.4. The latest version of hands-free driving technology offers enhancements to make driving feel smoother, more natural, and more reliable in diverse road conditions. Keep reading with Sherwood Ford of Sherwood Park, AB, to learn about 2025 Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving updates and enhancements.

What’s new in BlueCruise 1.4?

BlueCruise 1.4 builds on previous versions, now offering better control in tricky driving scenarios, such as sharp curves or when the sun’s reflection interferes with vehicle sensors. Here are some of the key improvements drivers can look forward to:

  • Improved speed adjustments in curves: BlueCruise 1.4 automatically adjusts vehicle speed when navigating tight curves, keeping the system engaged for a longer duration, even in challenging conditions. In earlier versions, drivers may have needed to take control on sharp turns, but this update offers smoother and more consistent hands-free driving.
  • Enhanced in-lane stability: With the addition of a new motion controller, BlueCruise 1.4 reduces side-to-side movements within the lane, providing greater stability and minimizing the “drifting” effect that sometimes occurred in previous versions.
  • Longer hands-free engagement in weather conditions: Whether you’re driving through heavy rain or dealing with bright sunlight, BlueCruise 1.4 offers longer hands-free operation, helping drivers stay in hands-free mode even during inclement weather.

Lane-change assistance and in-lane repositioning

While BlueCruise 1.4 brings new enhancements, it also retains features introduced in earlier versions. One popular feature is Lane Change Assist, which allows drivers to change lanes with just a tap of the turn signal while the system remains in hands-free mode. In-lane repositioning is another valuable function, gently adjusting the vehicle’s position within the lane to provide more space between your car and others on the road, adding an extra layer of comfort and safety.
