Which Ford models are aluminum?

The widely popular, and best-selling vehicle in Canada for over 50 years, F-Series pickup moved to a high-strength, military-grade aluminum body in 2015 when it was completely redesigned. The all-new 2017 F-Series Super Duty pickups trucks also feature a lightweight aluminum body.

What’s different about the Super Duty aluminum body?

The newest members of the aluminum-bodied Ford family includes the all-new 2017 Super Duty pickups. Like they did with the smaller F-150, the new aluminum bodies have helped cut down the weight of the Super Duty trucks. Ford did something a little different with its approach in the Super Duty pickups. While fuel savings is still important to Ford, the weight reduction was used to add strength to the Super Duty’s frames and suspension underpinnings.

While the frames of the Super Duty trucks aren’t aluminum, they are high-strength steel and up to 24 times more stiff than the previous frames.

The F-Series pickup delivers greater towing capacity, bigger payloads, and better acceleration. The high-strength frame and high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body have increased strength and durability, producing a better truck overall.

The F-150 and Super Duty pickups can still support thousands of pounds of cargo. Despite a departure from the norm, the F-Series is still focused on providing the parts of a pickup that matter most. With new materials used throughout the cabin, the F-150 and Super Duty are able to provide a better experience than pretty much every other truck on the road today thanks to their revolutionary, high-strength body style.
