What parts of your Ford vehicle should you get serviced for summer?

Ford Maintenance and Service Checklist for New and Used Models in Edmonton AB

Summer’s triumphant return to Alberta means that now is as good a time as ever to go explore the natural beauty and awesome attractions that we have in the Edmonton area. It also means, however, that to prepare for the hotter conditions, you should be aiming to get your vehicle serviced as soon as you can! We want to help you out, and our Sherwood Ford team has put together a quick maintenance and service checklist for the summer months, that both new and used Ford drivers should be keeping an eye on.

Replace Brake Pads and Suspension Components

Though sometimes overlooked, being able to stop your Ford vehicle on a dime is equally important as being able to drive it fast over long distances. Our service bay is stocked full of new brake pads and rotors, which are invaluable when it comes to your safety and assurance.

Also, since the extreme climate changes we’re used to in central Alberta often mean that roads are susceptible to potholes and cracks, replacing essential parts of your suspension (tie rods, stabilizer links, shocks, etc.) every once in a while can go a long way to helping you absorb bumps and drive smoothly.

Replace Engine Fluids and Motor Oil

To avoid harmful and gross sludge buildup, it’s never a bad idea to replace the fluids that your Ford model requires to run at its best. These include brake fluid, coolant, fuel injection systems, and of course, motor oil. Getting a fresh supply in your engine can greatly increase your performance and efficiency.

Install a Fresh Set of Tires

Since your tires are the only four points of contact that your Ford has with the pavement, keeping a grip on the road and running with as little hassle as possible requires that they’re running properly. Here at Sherwood Ford, we carry plenty of tires from top-tier manufacturers such as Hankook, Goodyear, Firestone and more – we’ll also take care of alignment and rotation services!

Install New Engine Belts and Hoses

Your timing and serpentine belts are essential parts of your engine, as they help to keep the gears turning in an optimal fashion. Over time, they could start to crack and break down from wear, which is why we recommend you come and see us in order to get them swapped out.

Replace Your Battery and Alternator

Now more than ever, all new Ford models are outfitted with arguably the best electronic systems on the market. To keep them running properly, as well as to get your vehicle started in any type of weather, replacing its battery and alternator is never a bad decision. This way, you can take one more worry out of the daily drive.
