Ford owners can unlock their vehicle with the key concealed in their pocket or purse. Then, start the vehicle with the simple press of a button. They can also lock the vehicle with the concealed key.
How to use Ford push-button start
Starting with Ford Intelligent Access Push Button Start is easy. The first step is to step on the brake pedal. In a Ford equipped with a manual transmission, depress the clutch instead. Now, with your key fob in your pocket or anywhere inside the vehicle, simply press the start/stop button. Turning off your Ford is just as easy. First, ensure your car is at a full stop, put it into park or set the emergency brake, and press the start/stop button. It’s that easy to use Ford push-button start technology with Intelligent Access.
If you ever lose your key fob, then you’ll need a replacement. Our service center can help replace your key fob.
Locking and unlocking your doors
Opening your trunk is also easy. There’s a soft button above or below the license plate, or on your lift-gate. Simply press that with the key fob on your person, and the trunk or lift-gate will open.
What can I do if my key fob battery dies?
Easy Peasy. Ford has thought about this before hand. Inside your key fob is a cut key that can be used to unlock your car through the driver’s door lock cylinder. There’s a slide out on the the fob or is inside a tiny compartment on the back. You can also use this key to unlock in situations where the battery is dead.
Once inside, simply start the car. First, there is a slot in the steering wheel or a pocket in the center console that fits the key fob. The slot may also be in the glove compartment. Just insert the key fob, and then start your car normally.
