Be a Good Neighbor in the 2018 Mustang GT

New Mustang GT Good Neighbor Mode

You may absolutely love the sound of your Mustang’s engine when it fires up but your neighbors might not. They really might not like it at 8 o’clock in the morning on a weekend when you’re ready to enjoy the horsepower of your Mustang after a long week and they’re trying to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee. To make everyone happy to see that new 2018 Mustang pull out of the driveway, Ford has created a “Good Neighbor Mode.”

What is Good Neighbor Mode?

In its simplest form, the “Good Neighbor Mode” is a quiet exhaust mode. A “quiet start” exhaust option is not a new idea to the automotive industry but Ford’s “Good Neighbor Mode” is so much more than that.

Not only does “Good Neighbor Mode” allow drivers to quiet their Mustang’s exhaust, it allows them to schedule when it’s time to rumble and when it’s time to politely back out of the driveway. On tradition quiet exhaust systems, drivers can switch the system on or off via a button. Through Ford’s new system, the feature can be scheduled to automatically go quiet during certain times of the day.

According to a recent poll by Ranker.com, loud engine revving ranks among the most annoying noises neighbors make, alongside other common nuisances including lawn mowers, power tools, barking dogs and band practice.
