Now Anyone Can Burn Some Rubber in the Ford Mustang!

New Mustang Line Lock Technology

The 2018 Mustang is shaping up to be the best Mustang ever! Ford has announced ANOTHER new feature for the model that will make it easy for everyone to perform race-style burnouts. Intended for track-use only, the brand is fitting every 2018 Mustang with its new Line-Lock technology and fans could not be more excited.

“Burnouts just never get old, no matter how old you are and how many times you’ve done them,” said Vaughn Gittin Jr., Formula Drift Champion. “Who would have thought that we would see an EcoBoost Mustang producing 15 seconds of fury like this? You’ve got to love these rad things Ford is doing.”

Previously exclusive to the V8-powered Mustang GT, this new technology will even be standard on the new 2.3L EcoBoost® Mustang. Models fit with the 10-speed SelectShift® automatic or 6-speed manual transmission will also get the new feature.

How does the New Mustang Line-Lock system work?

Behind the wheel of the 2018 Mustang, Ford’s new Line-Lock technology is easy to use with steering wheel mounted thumbs switches and menu options right on the instrument cluster. What the system does, once engaged, is apply pressure to front brake calipers for approximately 15 seconds. This allows the driver to hit the gas and fully enjoy their burnout while the vehicle stays securely in place.

To Engage the Line-Lock technology, Drivers Must:

  1. Keep foot on the brake and take off the handbrake.
  2. Press the “pony” button on the steering wheel.
  3. Use Switches to select “Track Apps” on the instrument cluster menu.
  4. Select “Line-Lock.”
  5. Press and hold the “OK” button until the wheel graphic appears.
  6. Put the Mustang into 1st gear and give it some gas.
  7. Let out the clutch and enjoy your burnout!
