How well can the new 2020 Ford Escape perform?

Performance capabilities and features of the 2020 Ford Escape

Last month we were able to give you a walk-around of the all-new 2020 Ford Escape, just unveiled and set to debut in Canada later this year. With plenty of great power and tech innovations, there’s a lot to take in for the fresh new decade, so we want to show you more about the former today. Check out the performance capabilities and features of the 2020 Ford Escape with Sherwood Ford – you’ll love it!

2020 Ford Escape Gasoline Engine Options and Performance Specs

If you choose not to opt for the Escape’s available hybrid trim (which, by the way, comes outfitted with an Atkinson-cycle 2.5L iVCT engine), its conventional engines can still pack some serious punch. Depending on your drive style or desired efficiency, you’ll get your pick of either a 1.5L EcoBoost or 2.0L EcoBoost Inline 4, the latter of which comes with Auto Start-Stop Technology.

At its peak, the Escape can unleash 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, almost unheard of in the crossover market, but to be expected for a model that bears the iconic Ford oval.

Features and Functions of 2020 Ford Escape Selectable Drive Modes

One of the coolest inclusions on the 2020 Escape, especially in the varied terrain that Edmonton offers, is its five selectable drive modes, which include Normal, Eco, Slippery, Sport, and Deep Snow/Sand. When you toggle between them, the Escape can shift its electronic stability control and traction control systems on a dime to give you maximum throttle response and control. This means that as far as crossovers go, the Escape is perfect for each one of your adventures.

Features and Functions of 2020 Ford Escape All-Wheel Drive Disconnect

The 2020 Escape is highly intelligent, and in many ways it might be even smarter than you’d think. This is exemplified by its All-Wheel Drive Disconnect system, which uses sensors to detect when AWD is not needed. If this happens, the rear driveline will be disconnected automatically, without you needing to do anything – get into a situation where you’ll need all four wheels, however, and it’ll turn back on. What could be better than saving energy while still harnessing your Escape’s full capability?
