Ford is Raising the Bar on the unstoppable 2017 Ford Escape! Aside from trucks, SUV’s are the next largest segment in Canada. Joe Hinrichs, President of the Americas says, “Customers want more technology they can really use for their daily drive to make it safer and easier.” 2015 saw the 13th consecutive year the Escape set the pace and outsold the entire competition since it launched in 2001! New enhancements and development make it even better with significant differences, including ways for owners to interact with their vehicle from almost anywhere through a smartphone app. (see Videos at Bottom of page)
New SYNC Connect
The available SYNC Connect lets Ford Escape drivers use a phone app for many tasks. Now you can remotely lock, unlock, locate and start Escape. It also allows the driver to check fuel levels and mileage on the odometer.
New Enhanced Park Assist
Parallel or perpendicular parking frustrations are now a thing of the past.
New Lane-Keeping System
Available system includes lane-keeping alert. If the driver is drifting unintentionally from their lane, the system issues an alert. Lane-leeping assist then provides assistance to help a driver steer the vehicle back into its lane.
New Driver Alert System
The System uses data from the lane-keeping system. The available Driver Alert System detects signs of fatigued driving. When it does, it provides a warning in the instrument cluster.
New Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning
Escape with adaptive cruise control can slow the Escape to keep a consistent following distance from the vehicle ahead. There are four pre-set distance gaps. Forward collision warning triggers visual and audio alerts if the system detects a collision may occur. When it does, it pre-charges the brakes if the vehicle needs to stop suddenly.
New Automatic High-Beams
Help Avoid distracting drivers in oncoming vehicles.
New SYNC 3
Sync 3 system is Ford’s next generation of voice activated technology. Faster performance, more conversational voice recognition, more intuitive touch-screen and graphical interface.
Foot-Activated Hands-Free Power Liftgate
Owners can open and close the liftgate with a kicking motion beneath the rear bumper or switch on the interior.
Hill Start Assist
Momentarily holds the brakes to avoid rolling backward when starting on a slope.
The 2017 Escape has efficiency-minded fun with an engine lineup designed to achieve impressive performance. Standard on both EcoBoost engines, Auto Start-Stop helps reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving. Escape has two new EcoBoost engines.
Raisin the bar – 2.0L Ecoboost Upgrades
Among a host of changes to the 2.0L EcoBoost is a twin-scroll design enabling optimized camshaft timing for improved engine performance and reduced turbo lag.
A new, lighter engine-block casting along with new aluminum balance-shaft assembly shaves six pounds from the engine’s gravitational weight! Other changes include: lighter pistons, newly designed integrated exhaust manifold and new high-pressure direct injection fuel system for fine fuel atomization. These upgrades pave the way for an increased compression ratio of 9.7:1, up from 9.3:1 for improved overall fuel efficiency.

The 2015 Escape has been deemed the highest-ranked compact SUV in initial quality in a tie in the U.S, according to J.D. Power. Escape received the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles among compact SUVs in a tie in the proprietary J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Initial Quality Study. The study is based on responses from almost 85,000 vehicle owners across the U.S.
