What is PowerBoost on the all-new 2021 Ford F-150?

2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost features and functions

PowerBoost is a class-exclusive, hybrid power-train that is available on the 2021 Ford F-150. As a hybrid power-train, it gains you more efficiency with a better fuel economy. That doesn’t mean it compromises on power though. PowerBoost is ready to deliver the kind of power that truck owners need. Keep reading below to learn more about the 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost features and functions.

2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost – power ratings

A Ford truck wouldn’t be itself without impressive power ratings. The electric motor of the PowerBoost system creates up to 47 horsepower on its own. What does that translate into? The 2021 Ford F-150 with a PowerBoost power-train can tow up to 12,000 pounds.

Furthermore, PowerBoost is targeting best-in-class torque and horsepower ratings. Ford has yet to announce exact power and torque figures for the PowerBoost setup, but we expect to have those soon. The PowerBoost is an extra-cost option on all 2021 Ford F-150 SuperCrew models, but the price will depend on the trim level.

2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost – fuel economy rating

Trucks sometimes get a bad rep for fuel economy ratings, but that isn’t true of all trucks. The PowerBoost system utilizes regenerative braking, which means that some of the energy that is wasted in coming to a stop will be used to power your vehicle. This will improve the fuel economy. EPA estimates for fuel economy will be available later in 2020.

As for mile range, the 2021 Ford F-150 is estimated to achieve approximately 700 miles of range. That rating is for one single tank of gas. Imagine fewer trips to the gas station in your next truck.
