Comparing the top five features of Ford Super Duty models

Are you trying to decide which 2024 Ford Super Duty you should get, the F-250 or the F-350? At Sherwood Ford in Sherwood Park, AB, we offer both models and know the choice can be hard. That’s why we’re comparing the top five features of Ford Super Duty models below.

2024 Ford Super Duty F-250 vs. F-350: suspension system

When it comes to suspension type, the F-250 and F-350 offer the same options. The 4×2 models have an independent twin I-Beam suspension with coil springs, heavy-duty shock absorbers, and a stabilizer bar. On 4×4 models, the front suspension is a mono beam with coil springs, heavy-duty shock absorbers, and a stabilizer bar. The rear suspension on all models is a solid axle with leaf springs, heavy-duty shock absorbers, and a stabilizer bar.

2024 Ford Super Duty F-250 vs. F-350: 5th-wheel towing capacity

The 2024 Ford F-250 Regular Cab with 4×2 and a 6.7 L High Output Power Stroke ® Turbo Diesel engine can tow up to 23,000 pounds. The 2024 Ford F-350, with the same cab, drivetrain, and engine, can tow up to 32,900 pounds.

In terms of towing, the F-350 is the clear winner, with an increase of over nine thousand pounds over the F-250.

2024 Ford Super Duty F-250 vs. F-350: payload capacity

Now, let’s check out the payload. The F-250 can handle 4,302 pounds of payload when configured as a Regular Cab, 141.6-inch wheelbase, SRW model with an 8-foot box, 4×2 drivetrain, and 6.8 L engine. The F-350 DRW model with the same cab, wheelbase, box length, drivetrain, and engine can carry up to 8,000 pounds.

With over 3,000 extra pounds of payload, the F-350 is a better choice for anyone carrying heavy loads.

2024 Ford Super Duty F-250 vs. F-350: conventional towing

If you don’t use 5th-wheel or gooseneck towing, the maximum ratings will be lower. For the F-250 Regular Cab 4×2 model with a 6.7 L engine, the maximum rating is 18,200 pounds with conventional towing. For the F-350 model with the same configuration, you’re looking at 24,800 pounds.

Overall, the F-350 gets higher towing ratings with conventional or unconventional towing methods.

2024 Ford Super Duty F-250 vs. F-350: base curb weight

Curb weight affects performance and fuel use. The F-250 SRW, with a 6.7 L engine, regular cab, and 4×2, weighs 6,583 pounds. The base curb weight for the same F-350 configuration is 6,553 pounds, a negligible difference.
