The latest lineup of full-size SUV models is already taking to the streets. That is where the 2018 Atlas has a slight advantage over the 2018 Explorer in a head to head comparison. While the Atlas is already out, the 2018 Explorer isn't expected until this fall. However, there are a number of features on the 2018 Explorer that make the wait worthwhile.
For 2018, the Explorer is getting some new color options and wheel designs. New colors such as Cinnamon Glaze and Burgundy Velvet will now adorn the SUV atop brand new wheel options. The 2018 Atlas also features sporty color options but with fewer advanced technologies than the 2018 Explorer.

One of the most exciting updates to the 2018 Explorer is the addition of an embedded 4G modem incorporating a Wi-Fi hotspot. The 2018 Atlas allows for smartphone integration through its systems but nothing like the 10-device capacity of the Explorer.
Each SUV also comes with its own infotainment system equipped with various convenience features. With the 2018 Explorer SYNC Connect, drivers get more than diagnostic information and smartphone integration. The SYNC Connect system also comes with FordPass, the brand's tool for making payments, asking for help, finding useful information and more.
