Bruderheim Family Fall Festival
There are so many different ways to celebrate the fall season, so if you like to celebrate with a little bit of everything, the Bruderheim Family Fall Festival should be right up your alley. Taking place from Sept. 4 – 6, take a leisurely drive into the country for some small town fun that opens with a pancake breakfast on the 4th, with main events taking place on the 5th in the form of Model T races, a scooter competition, a vendor market, BBQ, fireworks and more.
Fort Saskatchewan’s Sheep Leaving Parade
The sheep area headed for a warm and cozy shelter to ride out the upcoming winter, and we won’t be seeing them until next year. If this has you feeling blue, the sheep ear leading a parade to say their goodbyes for the time being. The parade is on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. With sheep feeding beginning at noon. Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival
This one isn’t typically a fall festival, but we live in unique times right now. The Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival, usually held over Father’s Day weekend, is being hosted on Sept 3 – 4 instead this year, with live music, beer gardens, food and more to enjoy at the Four Seasons Park in Beaumont.
Ellis Bird Farm in Lacombe
Lacombe is for bird watchers, and you can head out there to enjoy the Ellis Bird Farm featuring a trail and café. Why do we consider this a Labour Day weekend event? Because Sep. 6 is the last day of the season for Ellis Bird Farm, and perhaps one of the best with the Golden Music Makers to play them out between 1 p.m. and 3p.m.
Wetaskiwin’s Harvest Festival
We take food for granted these days, but Labour Day weekend is a great time to party like our ancestors did, by celebrating the harvest season. At Wetaskiwin’s Harvest Festival, Sept. 4 – 5, you can not only witness the wheat crop being harvested but also do some harvesting yourself by shopping at the farmer’s market. More fun can be found via carnival games or learning how to make bread.
Go Camping in Alberta
Whether you want forests, lakes or mountains, Alberta has it all for the avid camper. But, if you’re somewhat new to the experience, Labour Day weekend can be a great time to try it out via the Provincial First-Come-First-Served campsites, which get you set up with amenities you need like tables, firepits and even access to washrooms in the area.
