Before going off to university, primary school, or starting your adult life for yourself, your dad has always been there, in your corner and giving his advice every step of the way. The sacrifices that he’s made can’t be understated, and as such it’s so important for us all to pay tribute to the men that have paved the way for our upbringings, no matter where they’ve led. Do It for Dads 5K Walk/Run
If you’re looking to get a good workout in before all the fun, you’ve got ample opportunity to do so at Rundle Park, for the annual Do it for Dads 5K. Registration is $35, and all proceeds from the race will go towards prostate cancer research and prevention efforts!
Prairie Gardens Father’s Day Feast
With all the magic dad works on the grill, he deserves some time away from the deck for at least an afternoon. Take him out to Prairie Gardens in nearby Bon Accord for a delicious farm-to-table meal, along with a petting farm and other cool stuff for the kids to enjoy!
Annual Springtime Soapbox Derby
St. Albert’s Springtime Soapbox Derby might not be on Father’s Day this year (it’s on June 10), but that doesn’t mean that dad won’t get his time in the spotlights. Register your 6-12-year-olds for this race, and come to see some fast action, along with time set aside to honour all our fathers!
Edmonton Father’s Day Car Show
If pops is a car enthusiast, he’s sure to enjoy the Edmonton Father’s Day Car Show, set to take place at Celebration Church right off Argyll Road. You’ll get to see hot rods, antiques, sportier cars, motorcycles and more – you’ll also get to enter your own for a potential $500 cash prize! Plus, there will be food trucks and free barbecue, which has swayed us.
