Remembrance Day 2018 Events and Ceremonies in Edmonton AB

To Canadians, “Lest We Forget” is more than just a three-word motto – it’s a living testament to those brave men and women who have gone before us and fought for the freedoms and privileges that this country enjoys on a daily basis. Though they certainly deserve recognition and praise every single day, every year on November 11 our entire nation celebrates Remembrance Day, a fitting tribute to all who have served in our Armed Forces. That’s why the holiday means so much to us at Sherwood Ford, and it’s also why we’ve listed some Remembrance Day 2018 Events and Ceremonies in Edmonton AB; stop on by and show your appreciation!

22 KM Rucksack March for Remembrance (November 3)

Even if you don’t know what a “ruck march” is, you’ve probably seen it portrayed in movies and other media – it’s basically a 5 or 10K, only you’re carrying a heavy amount of gear and supplies to prepare you for fast-moving combat in the service. In this case, to show solidarity and support for our veterans, Wounded Warriors Canada is sponsoring its very own ruck march through Gold Bar Park in Edmonton. In addition to this, there’s also a fundraiser to go along with the event, so even if you can’t make it, you can still donate by clicking here!

City Hall Remembrance Day Service

On Sunday, November 11, starting at 10:15 am (though we recommend you arrive by 9:45 to get a seat), you’re invited to Edmonton City Hall for an official Remembrance Day service, led by the Commanding Officer of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. This is a must-visit to honour all sacrifices and accomplishments made by those who have served Canada.

Norwood Legion Remembrance Day Ceremony

Norwood Legion is one of the top organizations in Edmonton for veterans, as it hosts plenty of great community events, catering, and more. On Remembrance Day itself, Norwood Legion #178 will host its own ceremony, starting at 10:00 am. House Leader Brian Mason will lay a wreath, and you’re all invited to come by and pay your respects to all.
