In order help out a local student at Elmer S Gish School, your friends here at Sherwood Ford have made a donation to her cancer research foundation.
No matter where we came from, who we are, what we’ve done, we’ve all been affected by cancer in some way of another. While doctors are often able to stave off and even get rid of the cancer in some instances, there are many where it is either too late, or there isn’t enough knowledge to know how to cure it. One little girl from an area school has taken it upon herself to raise money for cancer research to help find a cure for every case, and after hearing her story, we were compelled to help out.
Over at the Elmer S Gish School, there’s a remarkable young girl named Ava who has set up a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research. Unfortunately, Ava herself was diagnosed not too long ago, but has kept her positive outlook and optimism for life. Ava hopes to see a day where cancer isn’t something that people fear, but is something that has become easily treatable. That’s why she decided to organize Ava’s Answer for Cancer in partnership with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital is located in Edmonton and has been helping young individuals since 2001. Stollery is the only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children, and young people here in northern and central Alberta. The Stollery is also one of not just our province’s, but our nation’s leaders among researching various illnesses such as cancer. That’s why Ava has chosen to work with them towards raising $10,000 for cancer research.
When we here at Sherwood Ford heard about what Ava was doing, we knew that we had to help in whatever way that we could. We contacted the school and put together a pep rally with all of Ava’s classmates and with the help of one of her friends, presented her with a cheque for $1,000! If you’re interested in donating to Ava’s answer for cancer, please follow the link below, and feel free to watch the video of Ava’s pep rally.
