Send Hunger Running in Fear with the WE Scare Hunger Food Drive

All across our great nation, people are coming together with the hopes of wiping out hunger. Join us here at Sherwood Ford to learn about how we can all help ensure everybody has enough to eat.

It may not seem like donating one can of soup or one jar of canned fruits would make a huge difference combating the devastating and widespread hunger issues that many Canadians unfortunately deal with on a day-to-day basis. But, when pooled all together with donations from others at locations such as a local food bank, your donation no matter how big or small plays a huge role in positively impacting another’s life.

More About WE Scare Hunger

Make a Difference with Sherwood Ford

Thanks to everybody in our great community, we were able to bring almost 1,500 pounds of food to the Strathcona Food Bank last year, and we’re hoping to provide even more this year! Unfortunately, food bank usage has been climbing over the past few years. The root cause for hunger in Canada is low income which affects over 4 million Canadians at any given time.

These people are our brothers, our sisters, our friends, our countrymen, and we can’t sit idly by when we can give them the aid and support that they need. Most of the time, people who use a food bank only require help for a short period of time before they get back on your feet. Remember the last time someone gave you a second chance before you succeeded? By donating to the We Scare Hunger Food Drive, you’re giving someone else the second chance that they need in order to survive and succeed.

How to Help

Those interested in donating non-perishable food items can do so by bringing their items to Sherwood Ford, or one of the many other places around our community that have also set up collection stations. The Strathcona Food Bank is a volunteer organization, and anyone interested in doing more for the community is strongly encouraged to volunteer some time to help out at the food bank. In 2015 alone, volunteers put in more than 16,400 hours of work. If more people volunteer their time, it can help to ensure that no volunteer becomes overworked, and jobs can get done much faster.
